Reminder: payment of the OFII tax is compulsory

The OFII (French Immigration office) tends to send the payment notification due by the company hiring/hosting a foreign worker earlier than it used to. The tax must be paid immediately, even if the employee has not arrived on the French territory yet.

In the absence of a swift payment, the OFII sends a reminder letter, followed by an enforcement order, called « signification d’un titre de recette exécutoire » and relayed by a bailiff.

If you don’t receive the first payment notification, you should contact the OFII to check that the contact details of the company is correctly registered.

The OFII may send an enforcement order without prior notice in case of recurring payment delays from the hosting/hiring entity.

As a reminder, the employer of a foreign worker commits to pay this tax by ticking the following box on any work permit application form.

If this box hasn’t been ticked, the work permit won’t be delivered.

For 2015, the amount of the OFII tax ranges from €801,64 to € 2004.09€, depending on the type and length of the work contract.
